About Us

How our adventure started

In 1988 Andre Nel and his father opened a transport company called Voortrekker Transport. During the first couple of years, Andre personally transported goods using a cattle truck. In 1990 they bought premises in Outjo and changed the company name to Rhino Trek. The name was chosen because the Rhino is indigenous to Africa and Andre is extremely passionate about Rhino’s and their conservation.

In 1992 Andre bought the first refrigerated unit for Rhino Trek, after which he appointed a full-time driver whose initial goal was to transport fish to Mozambique and Zimbabwe. This was before there were tar roads into Africa.

In 1995 Rhino Trek formed a division called Unifoods Southern Africa, which would become the trading arm of the company and the first consignments of pork, chicken and milk powder was taken to Zimbabwe.

In 1999 we did our first fish consignment to the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In 2005 the company structure was changed and the holding company Corridor Logistics (Pty) Ltd was formed.

The company operates in 6 difference divisions:
  • Unifoods Southern Africa - Trading Division
  • Rhino Trek – Transport Division
  • Corridor Logistics Clearing and Forwarding
  • Corridor Logistics Warehousing
  • Unifoods Retail – Oshikango
  • Unifoods Charcoal
